THE SILENT WINTER ~BY JAYSON WILLIAM ALLEN

THE SILENT WRITER

The trees are rotting
the leaves decay
the ground is frozen
above my shallow grave
Winter has come
I can feel it in my bones
the cold is a welcome friend
when you’re dead and alone
Heaven didn’t want me
and hell forgot my name
now I’m buried in the earth
inside a coffin filled with shame
I lay humbled in the ground
but at least there is no pain
sleeping in a silent dream
where the seasons never change
words are only whispers
when the heart is filled with lies
self-pity is just selfishness
when you take your own life
misery and hopelessness
walk hand in hand
you cherish only suffering
when you’re a broken man
God has denied me
and you didn’t give a damn
I weather in tragedy
that only death could understand
the winter now, she cradles me
she holds me in her arms
I’m sorry I didn’t say goodbye
but the pain went too far
she softly weeps for me
when she’s all alone
her tears fall like snow
making her heart grow cold
the wind begins to cry
singing silent lullabies
as sorrow kills her soul
the silent winter
is all she knows.
