PINK FLAMINGOS
Queen of Drag in 1976,
The Name of Candy Diva,
Candy made people mad by the sight of her fabulousness,
Extravagant wigs towering in height
which were sometimes Blue, Red, and Pink,
Candy wore the most out-of-this- world headpieces,
Gowns and makeup,
Known for being the Disco’s reigning Queen,
Having a bit of an ego,
Not in a bad way,
More of a confident manner
Candy wore her art on her face,
Vibrant colours and bling adorning her,
The sparkles,
The glitter,
The sequins,
And the array of lovers
She in her red
mustang,
Driving with her funky music blaring,
Telling herself fabulous words to describe her reflection in the mirror,
Putting on a bit of lipstick at the red light
She arrives at a local painting class,
She,
who never has experienced this before,
She starts picking up her paint,
Splash by splash,
Colour by colour,
Creating a self – portrait of herself,
Proud of who she has become,
Candy,
who brings joy, cheer, and love,
To others’ lives by her presence
Now Night, she’s
back at the Disco,
Dancing her
extraordinary wig off
the dance floor,
Singing a bit of karaoke,
With beats pulsating through the speakers,
Women green with envy,
Everyone enchanted by her sequinned gowns and cascading curls,
Mesmerised by her shimmering makeup
Who she,
Is meant to be the divine one.
