BREWMERGENCY
I step into the favourite part of my day, coffee time! Black, no sugar, wake-me-up sips swirling into my tired mind. If they made caffeinated eye drops, I’d be their customer, first in line. The loyal kind, the jittery hands for that one last shot with hands reaching across the prison bars of jet lag dawns.
Just give it to me, I’d say. Coffeegasms on display. Beans strongly brewed for brain bursts.
But this is what went down the other day. I didn’t get my dose of the usual. A busy afternoon smothered with the heavy burden of words and thoughts in blogs and newsletters.
The coffee pot had no more stock left. An empty vessel sitting silently in the corner nodding with disappointment. “Make me whole again,” it said. My mind went into flight mode. These do-or-die days had to stop.
I took phantom sips of my imaginary poison like a placebo to positive affirmations but empty manifestations can only get you so far.
The sunshine to my rainy days. Winter cool to summer nights. Cotton candy to a child’s delight. No words of respite until my footsteps woke me up at a local store across the street.
There it was!! My forever love – my brewmance, jitter juice, my high octane, call it what you may, I picked it up. Cash exchanged. The thought of hot stuff running through my veins. Made me almost skip a step, a beat, a breath.
The nosey neighbours got a glimpse of my Gollum eyes. Holding on to my dear life, chanting “My Precious” as I shut the door behind me. I had to get my fix. There she was… brain powder on my spoon. In went the hot water, stirring up a mood.
Aaaahhhhh…. I took a sip. I’m back. What do you need? A blog? A page? No rage, just a sage out of her cage, stepping out of the bronze age. What am I saying? Brain cells prancing about sprouting nonsensical rap, they knew no bounds for 60 minutes. All I could see was bean juice and me. Love of my life, my coffee-to-be, forever and for always.
All was well in the world again.
