WE SAY A POEM ~BY HELENA OWUSU ADJEI

WE SAY A POEM

Stringing of words
The gallant flow of ideas
Coming together, shifting for space
Settling in lines.
We say a poem.

Rhyming of words
A magnificent tale is woven
In short words, sang, recited
In the little space permitted
We say a poem.

A lion has a tale,
Twinkle twinkle little star,
Fox fox fox,
Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers,
We say a poem.

Beautiful words, nonsense words
In the cradle, in the nursery, all yellows and greans and blues,
Colours reflecting our gay moods,
We say a poem.
