REFLECTIONS, THOUGHTS AND INTROSPECTION ~BY CHRISTINE PEEL

Launched with such unerring aim,
Searing trails of lethal flame.
Missiles carving deadly path
With appalling aftermath.

Direct hits and buildings fall,
Burying deep beneath their pall:
Broken bodies, injured , maimed,
Shortened lives that death has claimed.

From this danger ever near
People live in dread and fear.
Bridges levelled, shelters smashed,
How their lives are torn and gashed!

Devastation, day by day
Surely, there’s some other way
For all nations, far and near
Not to have to live in fear?

All because of Man’s dire need
To appease his selfish greed.
Talks and sanctions, all in vain
Countless efforts, serve no gain.

Now , one views this ghastly scene:
Scarred and dead, where life has been.
Sad to see such devastation
Of a proud and peaceful nation!

Yet with each succeeding day
There are those who trust and pray
For the PEACE for which we strive,
And firm HOPE, which must survive!
