MERCY OF AN ANGEL ~BY ANGELINA ROLSTON

MERCY OF AN ANGEL

At the periphery of my vision,
I glimpse,
A maiden with alabaster eyes,
Snowy locks,
And a gown as pale as moonlight,
She radiates,
From head to toe,
I’m captivated,
Yet lost,
In what realm do I dwell?
Suddenly, all dissolves,
Into purity,
And pallor,
She now plucks the strings,
Of a celestial lyre,
She gazes,
Piercing,
I wince,
Agony courses,
Merely from her gaze,
I’m ensnared,
All I perceive is a cacophony,
Of shrill dissonance,
Who is she,
And where am I?

She extends her hand,
We intertwine,
Her touch speaks of
Nothingness,
Her lips move,
Yet silence prevails,
Deafening,
As she clasps my hand,
Agony floods,
Her grip rends my flesh,
I gasp for air,
But suffocation reigns.

As I awaken,
Darkness enfolds,
As deep as oblivion,
She,
Was the harbinger of demise,
She grasped me,
Guiding me hither,
I’m yet to discern,
If this,
Is sanctuary or inferno,
But one certainty remains,
Breath eludes me still,
I’m paralyzed,
I’m departed,
At the mercy of an angel.
