FAITH WE HOLD
Looking back on what began three years prior
Global health rattled life that had been familiar
Measures of social separation and people lost
Promised a page in history for the human cost
Shifting from distant to diminished interactions
Adapting in phases for face-to-face occasions
Mask and vaccine gave us shield and armor
Fighting a widespread quiet unseen danger
Count us blessed to make it through fragile times
As we trust the faith we hold for still better signs
Thankful those we care about missed harm’s way
Everyone trading merry tidings on Christmas day
Young ones laugh, clap, twirl, and sing “ho ho ho”
Elders chase grandkids for kisses under mistletoe
We’ve done due diligence to see this playful sight
Let’s smile together before retiring to a silent night.
