A NUN’S PRAYER
Yesterday,
February 18th 1962
She returned home
From a day spent in fervent prayer
Begging for the sick to mend,
The unloved to be embraced
The loneliest to find solace
In her black-and-white habits embrace,
She witnesses the harrowing scenes of the local asylum,
Where despair and darkness reign.
Yet, undeterred, she offers supplications
For the guidance they sorely need.
Amidst the rudeness, abuse, and malevolence,
She perseveres in her devotion,
And tomorrow, she’ll
repeat the same compassionate prayer.
But will the same compassion be bestowed upon her?
