THE MASK
Wearing the mask pretending I’m new
Buried truths inside, I’m keeping,
Stories known, only, to a few
“Be yourself!”, a motto declaring its bankruptcy,
Long ago, How untrue!
In a vile world, only masks will endure,
If only you knew.
“Be yourself!”, only, when abandoned to your ego,
the certainty made, at times, uncertain flou
Wear the mask, as long as alive,
While, in life, you’re acting,
You’re playing through
Helas! Such as these our times are made of,
The thousand lies everyday we chew.
In a vile world, only masks will endure,
WATCH! This is your savior,
You’re only clue!
