FADING MIRRORS
In the silence of the night, shadows stretch thin,
A whisper of hunger, a battle within.
Echoes of laughter, now faint, barely heard,
A struggle for solace in a world so absurd.
Mirrors reflect a distorted parade,
In the dance of light, reality frayed.
Bones like whispers, skin drawn tight,
An illusion of control in the midst of a fight.
A slice of bread, a guilty sin,
The war of the mind, where to begin?
Calories counted, steps retraced,
The ghost of the self, slowly erased.
In the mirror’s gaze, a stranger stands,
Lost in the sway of life’s demands.
A heart that beats to a fearful song,
In the quest for perfection, something’s wrong.
Friends speak softly, their voices blend,
In the cacophony of thoughts, hard to defend.
Health, a fragile, distant star,
In the race for a body admired from afar.
Yet within this storm, a flicker of light,
A whisper of hope in the dark of night.
To see oneself beyond the weight,
To find the strength to recalibrate.
For life’s a journey, a winding road,
More than the burden of a silent code.
To nourish the soul, to find one’s place,
In the mirror’s reflection, a gentle grace.
