A LETTER FROM AN EXPATRIATE
From Coast to coast my mind is still roaming
Under a different sky, my soul is still endearing
We might be worlds apart, but my heart never stopped beating
Could we love more in absence, a love so tearing!
Looking up at the blue sky every morning,
The same sun’s rays all over are one, yet to me feel boring
Methinks my country’s sun and sky are different
Do you believe this is the meaning of missing?
On the river of grief, thinking about you makes it easier
In my imagination even sorrows and burdens are buried deeper
Hearing of your wounds miles away further deepens my scars
Scars healed in my simple reminiscence of your pretty summer sky stars
You’re my wound and you’re my cure,
My fond remembrance, my love so pure
Your love running throughout my veins is something sure
Even when rejecting, resenting sometimes,
To you, I always come back with emotions more than ever mature.
