WHEN WORDS CUT HARDER THAN KNIVES
In a quiet corner of the world,
A boy with dreams, like wings unfurled,
His heart was light, his spirit bright,
Till words cast shadows on his night.
A girl, with carelessness, did say,
“Are you mentally ill today?”
Those words, so sharp, like a dagger’s slice,
Cut deeper than the sharpest knife.
His mind, once clear, began to blur,
With doubts and fears, his thoughts did stir,
A question tossed in cruel jest,
Became the demon in his chest.
He pondered long, in silent pain,
The echo of that cruel refrain,
His dreams, once vibrant, lost their hue,
As darkness in his heart, it grew.
The laughter, joy, and carefree song,
Replaced by thoughts that felt so wrong,
A single phrase, a careless dart,
Had pierced the core of his young heart.
The world felt heavy, shadows tall,
He stumbled through his mental hall,
Seeking light, but finding none,
His battles were lost, not even begun.
In whispers, he sought solace deep,
In night’s embrace, he tried to sleep,
But echoes of that cruel deceit,
Kept him awake in restless beat.
For words can cut, and leave no trace,
Yet scars remain, in a secret place,
A boy once whole, now torn apart,
By careless words that broke his heart.
So let us speak with gentle care,
And guard our words with love and prayer,
For what we say can heal or harm,
A soul can shatter with alarm.
Remember him, that boy who fell,
To words that cast a wicked spell,
And let us strive to be the light,
That guides the heart through darkest nights.
