YOU CHOSE COLD, I CHOSE CLOSURE ~BY KERRY OKEYO

Once I was the quiet flame,
Burning for a name never called.
Now I’m the wind—uncaged, untamed,
And you? Just a shadow I recall.

I stayed behind the mask of grace,
While storms stirred deep beneath my chest.
You laughed with him—I held my place,
A silent friend, a loyal guest.

I chose not to ruin the fragile thread,
Hoped you’d read what I left unsaid.
But you chose coldness, sweetly dressed—
And now, your silence is confessed.

I watched the sparkle in your eyes
Dance for a soul that wasn’t mine.
It hurt, but I refused to cry—
My tears were forged into a spine.

You saw me always standing tall,
But never close enough to fall.
So here I rise, behind the wall—
While you fade like a distant call.

No drama here, no raging storm,
Just truth, reshaped in quiet form.
You were a chapter, warm but brief,
Now closed with dignity—not grief.

In group chats now, I won’t engage.
You’ll see a ghost who turned the page.
No hate, no war, no final brawl—
You’re simply… a shadow I recall.

I’ll build new bridges, guard my core,
With friends who knock on love’s real door.
And though you’re gone, I stand, not fall—
For peace has answered your withdrawal.
