APRIL SHOWERS 1989 ~BY ANNIE CONROY
I remember
Another April
A bridal shower
A tender dream
Vows of love
Cherry blossoms
Outside the Chapel
First mass
As man and wife
Primroses
Lighting the ditches
Shining rings
On wedding fingers
Twisting and turning
Getting used
To their wormth
All new
All lovely
April showers
I remember
Another April
One year on
Shattered dreams
Blossoms scattered
Where you rest
Primrose netted
On your wreath
Rings still shining
Getting used
To their coldness
Baby stirs
Safe and warm
In my womb
As I stand
Where you rest.
