BEHIND THE SCREEN
It’s a game of let’s pretend,
Played behind the little screen.
Statuses, selfies, the texts we send,
I’m sure you know what I mean.
We strut our stuff, gild and pose.
To earn the likes, retweets and views.
It’s quite hard to refrain, I suppose,
So many points to gain or lose.
Time after time, we make our moves,
Rather on edge, each time we play.
Whether or not our score improves,
Often can make or break our day.
Even so, when brought to light,
Who we are and what we post,
Will those around applaud the sight,
Or seem bemused at the most?
We can take some time to cease,
The make-believe and let’s pretend.
How we’d gain much poise and peace,
And find serenity descend.
